Family Room Renovation | Before & After
I am so thrilled to finally be able to start the decorating process after our renovation. We have been here a little over a year and I can’t even believe that the house that we bought is the same house as today. I remember when I first went to the open house of the property that I liked three things. The neighborhood, lot size and flow of the home were all things that couldn’t be changed. Everything else was really just cosmetic and I knew I wanted to start from scratch in our new home so we dove right into a complete fixer upper. The day we moved in I was so depressed. The house was dark and dreary. Everything was brown, tired and I thought to myself did I make a huge mistake? The first thing we did was paint, take down all the vertical blinds (loathe them) and that really brightened up the space. Still the tile, carpet, kitchen, fireplace and well everything was brown! I have included some lovely listing pictures so you can get an idea of what I was working with.
This family room which is open to the kitchen we put in new flooring, painted, replaced window treatments, and built a new fireplace.
I have slowly been layering things in. I work from biggest to smallest and still need wall decor and lighting but I would say it’s coming along.
One of my favorite pieces in this room is the cocktail ottoman from RH. It was custom-made in the outdoor perennials fabric. If you love white but have children, pets and a husband like me I highly recommend.
I think everyone is a little more happy in the room now that it’s light and bright. Sources listed for you all below! XO~Andrea
